The Memorimage – Reus International Film Festival will open its 19th edition on Wednesday, November 6, with the international premiere of the documentary Anita. La miliciana tenia nom, directed by Toni Monné , Arnau Gonzàlez i Vilalta and Plàcid Garcia-Planas. It is a film by Filmsnòmades in co-production with 3Cat and Ràdio Televisió Espanyola (RTVE) that discovers the story behind one of the most iconic images of the anarchism, the Spanish Civil War and the post-war period.
The film travels to the summer of 1936, when a Catholic photographer and an anarchist
militiawoman meet on the Rambla in Barcelona: he shoots his camera; she lets herself be
photographed. They had never seen each other and would never see each other again.
Their meeting was fleeting, but the result is the most reproduced image in the history of
Iberian anarchism, a click that frames the history of Catalonia, Spain and Europe in the
20th century.
The festival will end on November 9th with Fortuny, the biographical documentary on the painter Marià Fortuny (1838-1874), directed by Jordi Vall, Rafel Saludes and Jordi Llaberia.
Llaberia, that it will be projected in collaboration with the Centre de la Imatge Mas Iglesias
(CIMIR) to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the death of this reference of the Romantic and Orientalist painting and orientalist painting, followed by the awards ceremony and the musical performance of the singer-songwriter Joan Rovira.
As usual, the festival reopens the doors of the Teatre Bartrina to the public of Reus for the opening and closing gala, with the aim of turning them into great celebrations of culture and cinema. Registration is free on this form.
